What Is a Spiritual Awakening

A spiritual journey is the recognition of our true nature; it is a clear knowing that we are not limited by our physical forms but instead united with unconditional love and boundless intelligence.
An initial awakening may come about through any number of events or circumstances.
An illness that forces you to confront your mortality; a relationship breakup that causes you to question what really matters; a traumatic event that makes you realise how precious each day truly is; a loss of faith in your current belief system or death in the family; etc.

Signs of Spiritual Awakening
A few common signs in the spiritual awakening process include life-changing events and meeting people that open that spiritual “door” for you, helping you look at your spiritual experience with more perspective.
Here are a few signs that you might be going through a spiritual awakening.
- Beginning to see things differently – everything seems brighter and clearer.
- Feeling happier all the time.
- Not trying so hard to control other people and situations around us.
- Finally understand why we were put here on Earth.
- Inner peace.
- Meaning in everyday tasks.
How to Become Spiritual Awakened
We all have spiritual beliefs, but sometimes it can take a little time before we get the courage and support to embrace them. There are many things that inspire us on the path to become spiritual seekers.
One way is to alter your thoughts. Even if something terrible has happened to you, you should think about how this experience will make you stronger, wiser, and more compassionate.
In addition, it’s very important not to blame yourself for what has happened to yourself in the past, letting go of the negative feelings and emotions that the event could have caused.
Another way to become spiritually awakened is through prayer and meditation.
Prayer can help us commune with our Higher Power and increase our spirituality, while meditation can allow us time for self-reflection.
Meditation takes us out of our daily routines and allows us time to relax and reflect on ourselves and what we’re thinking about or experiencing.
When we meditate, we are taking time out of our daily schedules to be more mindful of our thoughts and feelings.
We can’t always control what happens in the external world and how other people perceive us, but meditation allows us to control how we feel and react to those situations.
Four Stages of Spiritual Awakening
Self Acknowledgement
Why am I always angry with my partner/spouse? What happened to me when I was younger? How can I get out of this rut?
If you have been living your life by habit or pattern for years, it will take some time before you notice any changes.
It’s not uncommon to feel stuck at times because we don’t know where else to go from our current place. We often find ourselves repeating patterns over and over again until they become habits.
By acknowledging our faults, we can work on our issues and slowly but surely move on.
Knowing who you really are is a very important part of the spiritual awakening process
Letting Go of Attachment
Whether you are aware of it or not, you have attachments.
When you peel away these veils, you will find that there is only one thing in this world that truly defines you. You are the one who is in charge of your life, your beliefs, and your decisions; there are no other people who can make decisions for you.
You can’t change anything else but your attachment to things. If you want to be happy and be at peace with yourself, you must choose to let go of the things that you think you need and find fulfilment with who you are.
Inner Peace
Being calm in the face of stress is something people think of as inner peace.
But this doesn’t not mean things will never wrong in your life, it just means that you are not going to hold onto the anger, frustration, or despair when things do go badly.
Meditation can help you identify these negative reactions and help you learn to manage them before they begin to manage you.
Coming to Terms With Death
Death is something that we all have to come to terms with. Death can be scary, but it doesn’t need to be. When you think about death, take a moment and put yourself first.
Think of what you want in your life rather then what someone else wants for you.
Think about the things in your life that you are going to miss when it’s too late like kids and grandkids playing with their parents or friends getting together with their old high school friends from college, wishing they would have spoken up sooner before they said goodbye.
What do I want my last moments on this earth to be?
How do I want my loved ones to remember me? What would make my memories better than if I had died tomorrow
By coming to terms with our mortality, we can more easily find meaning in our lives while we’re still here.
This doesn’t mean we’re thinking about our death every minute of the day, but rather that we can use the presence of death to help us realize our true potential.
