8 Thoughtful Meditation Gifts to Help Empty the Mind

Table of Contents

Finding the perfect gift is hard, especially if the person you’re trying to buy a gift for is on a journey to liberate themselves from the need for worldly possessions.

However, even when somebodies mind is empty, they’ll still appreciate a thoughtful gift, and although you can’t buy someone their enlightenment, you can help them on their way.

So here are eight awesome meditation gift ideas to show the person who’s thinking of nothing that you’re thinking of them.

Meditation Cushion

A meditation cushion is one of the most essential pieces of equipment a new meditator should have.

A good meditation pillow is designed to assist you in developing the correct posture and position by distributing your weight and your back allowing you to sit more comfortably for longer periods.

You can find meditation cushions in a variety of different shapes and sizes, but my personal favorite is a Zafu and Zabuton set. This includes a sturdy pillow to sit on that promotes good posture and a larger cushioned mat that provides comfort for your feet, ankles, and legs.

The Zafu & Zabutons set from Bean is a fantastic option as it’s made from entirely organic materials, is comfortable, and is easy to wash.

If you want more options, you can read my top 10 list of meditation cushions here.

Meditation Bench

Why It's a Great Meditation Gift

Meditation benches provide a stable, off-ground meditation position that promotes proper body alignment and blood flow through your legs.

A bench is an ideal meditation tool for anybody that struggles with sitting cross-legged or maintaining a straight spine.

Just like cushions, the benches available vary massively, with different sizes, shapes, and materials used to fit people’s preferences.

I lean more towards the wooden benches, with the legs of the bench situated in the middle so that my feet can spread out.

My personal favorite is the BLUECONY Meditation Bench due to its ergonomic design, sturdy materials, and easy pack-away bag.

It’s also worth noting that if a cushion or a meditation stool doesn’t fit your needs, you can also buy a meditation chair.

You can find my list of the top 10 meditation benches here.

A Meditation Book

There are hundreds of great recourses available nowadays to help people develop their meditation practices. Apps, online courses, and retreats are all great, but nothing can beat the convenience of having a book on hand that you can dip in and out of.

A good book on meditation will not only introduce the reader to a wide variety of different meditation techniques but also explains how we incorporate what we learn in our practice to help us live a mindful life.

Jon Kabat-Zinn is basically the godfather of modern mindfulness, and his book, ‘Coming To Our Senses’ is a must-read for experienced and new meditators alike.

It covers a variety of techniques and dispels some common myths people still hold about meditation.

A Mindfulness Journal

A mindfulness journal is used to track personal experiences through a person’s mindfulness journey or a meditation session. This could be anything from sensations, emotions, memories, or even how our meditation is affecting us in our daily life

Meditation can be extremely challenging; sometimes, it can feel like no progress is being made at all. This is why a journal can be so beneficial.

Looking back at how much advancement has been made can be hugely motivational and allow us to find insights into our meditation practice that are often difficult to see during the actual session.

My favorite mindfulness journal is the ‘Mindfulness Journey’ from Inner world. It’s a beautiful journal designed to help you track your insights and experiences during the meditation process and also features self-reflection and goal setting sections.

Muse

Muse Headband Meditation Gifts

The Muse headband is a powerful tool that can measure a person’s brain waves as they meditate.

As you meditate, the Muse headband tracks your brain’s activity using electroencephalography (EEG) and your BPM with a heart rate sensor.

If your mind starts to wander, the Muse headband notices and adjusts its sounds to bring your attention back to your daily meditation.

Muse offers a solution for those who struggle to focus, as it provides real-time feedback on what’s going on in your mind.

The Muse doesn’t come cheap, and they will try to sell you their app with meditations and different courses.

However, you can still use the Muse to track your meditations if you dont have a premium subscription.

Zen Gardens

Originally from japan, zen gardens are designed to serve as a place of quiet contemplation and reflection.

A zen garden kit is a miniature version that can be added to a desk, coffee table, or meditation space to help create a sense of calm and tranquility in the home.

Using a zen garden is a form of mindful movement that is intended to help people naturally relax by redirecting the mind from whatever is causing stress and anxiety and becoming anchored in the present moment.

My favorite Zen garden is the ENSO – Japanese Zen. Instead of using a rake, the ENSO has three textured balls to imprint your patterns into the sand.

Here’s a list of the best zen garden kits for mindful movement.

If you’ve ever attended a meditation retreat or a group meditation session, you will know how synonymous meditation is with herbal tea.

Drinking a cup of herbal tea after a meditation session, either alone or with other meditators, is an excellent opportunity to reflect on the session and take a moment before returning to everyday life.

Obviously, there are many options out there for teas, so if you’re looking for a good gift, maybe try a selection box.

This gift box from Pukka Teas comes in a beautiful box and a great selection of teas, from relaxing nighttime teas to energizing Tulsi tea for clarity.

Here’s a list of my favorite five herbal teas if you want more options.

Chakra stones represent the body’s seven main energy centers: Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Third Eye, and Crown.

Spiritual people primarily use chakra stones with another form of chakra healing, be that bija meditation, yoga or affirmations. What makes the use of chakra stones or just any healing stone so valuable is that they can be taken anywhere, helping a person to connect to their energy wherever they are in the world.

With the chakra stones from ZATNY you get seven pairs of stones that represent each of the seven main chakras. The stones come packaged in a beautiful travel box with a chakra pendulum and an interchange cage necklace.
